We have four teams in the Bishop's Stortford District Netball League (BSDNL) playing on a Sunday at Herts & Essex Sports Centre, Bishop's Stortford. SWAN 1 play in Division 1, SWAN 2 in Division 2, and SWAN 3 and 4 in Division 3. Seniors also play an evening summer league from April to July in Stansted, Monday night league at Leventhorpe School in Sawbridgeworth, and the BSDNL Summer League.
We introduced our Junior section in September 2013 and have quickly grown to over 160 Junior members ranging from 8-16 years old. The aim of our Junior squad is to develop SWAN players of the future. Players are eligible to play for our senior teams after the age of 14. SWAN Junior teams play in Chelmsford District Junior Netball League on Saturday mornings at Beaulieu Park School, Chelmsford and Cambridge Junior Development League on Sunday afternoons at Netherhall School, Cambridge. We have teams in all Divisions and the U14s play in the East Region Youth League. We have 19 County and Franchise pathway athletes and through our Performance and Development structure, we encourage all our players to become the best they want to be.
U14s - Year 8/9
We have now established a regular squad of players. Having had a successful Summer in the Cambridge District Netball Summer League they are now entered into Division 1 of the Cambridge Junior Development League playing on a Sunday afternoon. Traning is Wednesdays 8-9.30pm at Saffron Walden County High School.
U12s - Year 6/7
In 2014 we established a second younger junior section. They have been coached in basic skills and introduced to positions and match play since Year 5 through High 5's and now as U12s have moved to the full 7-a-side game in preparation for their first competitive league in the Cambridge JDC this season. We have two teams entered one in Division 1 and one in Division 2. Training is 7-8pm on a Tuesday at Joyce Franklin Academy Newport.
U10s - Year 4/5
We introduced our U10s (Yr 4/5) section in September 2015. Players are introduced to basic skills and match play through High 5's.
Our Back to Netball sessions are a popular pay and play option for those new, or returning, to netball. Many of our Back to Netballers have now gone on to play in our Senior League teams, others prefer the flexibility of a casual 'come when you can' training session. There is always cake and coffee after Back to Netball !!
Our Weekly Walking Netball sessions are ideal for the older player, the de-conditioned, and anyone coming back from injury/illness or just wanting to increase their exercise and activity levels in a FUN, FRIENDLY and RELAXED environment.
